A six-year-old boy named Enoch Palomar was attacked by a coyote while attending a softball game in Carson. The incident left him with bites and scratches that needed 20 stitches. His mother intervened by scaring the coyote away after witnessing the attack. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified, and the boy's clothing was taken for investigation. Although coyotes are common in Southern California, they usually avoid humans but can be drawn to human food sources.
"It just kept biting me and I was trying to kick it. It was too fast and it just jumped. I was trying my hardest and then I yelled."
"I was like, 'Get up, get up!' I was just hysterical."
Doctors patched up his leg with 20 stitches. The coyote also bit his head, neck and scratched other parts of the boy's body.
While coyotes are a common fixture in many Southern California neighborhoods, the canines are typically skittish and avoid interactions with humans.
