"The collision was first reported when people called 911 at 11:57 p.m. on Saturday to report a major injury collision, police said. Officers and personnel from the Palo Alto Fire Department responded immediately and found the man in a pickup truck. The man was extricated from the truck and rushed to the hospital. But the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased."
"Police said their preliminary investigation revealed that the pickup truck was traveling northbound on Alma Street when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with the elevated median. Personnel from the Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Police said it is currently unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor, and the cause of the collision remains under investigation."
A man in his 40s died after his pickup truck struck an elevated median on Alma Street in Palo Alto late Saturday. Callers reported the collision to 911 at 11:57 p.m. Fire and police personnel found the man inside the pickup, extricated him, and rushed him to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Preliminary investigation indicates the pickup was traveling northbound when it left the roadway and collided with the median. Personnel from the Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team responded. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors. Police do not believe another vehicle was involved. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner will release the man's identity.
