Man arrested in suspicion of stealing, watching women shower at UC Berkeley sorority house: police
"The man then fled the house through a back door at about 6 a.m. According to investigators, other women in the sorority had reported seeing the man as early as 3 a.m. A review of security footage showed the suspect walking inside and outside of the house until about 6:35 a.m. At one point the suspect left, changed clothes, then returned in a ski mask."
"During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the suspect had stolen food and underwear from a resident's room and had also watched women shower in the communal shower room. Using security video footage, detectives with the Department's Sex Crimes Unit followed the evidence and investigative leads to a possible suspect--Courtney Alford, 45. Using license plate reader technology, detectives allegedly found multiple images of Alford's vehicle in the area before and after the burglary."
"An arrest warrant was issued for Alford and he was taken into custody in Castro Valley on Wednesday. When officers later searched Alford's Dublin residence, they allegedly found parts to assault rifle, high-capacity ammunition magazines, and over 900 rounds of ammunition. On Thursday, prosecutors charged Alford with alleged burglary, prowling/peeking, invading privacy, unlawful entry, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition."
Members of a sorority on Warring Street reported an unknown man inside a resident's bedroom early Saturday, and the man fled through a back door about 6 a.m. Security footage showed the suspect walking inside and outside the house from about 3 a.m. until 6:35 a.m., briefly leaving, changing clothes and returning in a ski mask. Detectives determined the suspect stole food and underwear and watched women in the communal shower. Security video and license-plate reader images led detectives to 45-year-old Courtney Alford, who was arrested in Castro Valley. Officers later found rifle parts, high-capacity magazines and over 900 rounds; prosecutors filed multiple charges.
