Man, 32, found 'pulseless' after being pulled from water along Calif. coast
"The wife searched the area for about 40 minutes before asking nearby people for help, Martin said. Eventually, a bystander saw a body floating in a still tide pool and called 911 just before 3:30 p.m. When rescue crews arrived on the scene, they found the man face-up in the water and pulled him out. The man, who was declared dead, was "pulseless and apneic," that is, not breathing, Martin said."
"Officials are still trying to determine how the man died, but the area is known for its rocky shoreline, fierce sneaker waves and king tides, Martin said. He described the death as a possible drowning. The man also had "trauma" but it's unclear whether the injuries happened before or after he fell into the water. "We don't really know what happened, because we get there after, and there was no witnesses to see what happened."
A 32-year-old man drowned or suffered fatal trauma after going farther into the water while gathering sea urchins and other rock shellfish at Bean Hollow State Beach near Pescadero. His wife searched about 40 minutes, then a bystander found a body floating in a tide pool and called 911. Rescue crews pulled the man from the water and he was declared dead, described as pulseless and apneic. Officials noted the shoreline has rocky terrain, sneaker waves and king tides, and the death was described as a possible drowning with trauma whose timing relative to the fall remains unclear. Visitors are urged to exercise caution and watch one another.
