Magnitude 4.9 earthquake recorded in Northern California, USGS says
"SUSANVILLE, Calif. - A magnitude 4.9 earthquake was recorded near the town of Susanville in Lassen County on Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was centered around nine miles northwest of Susanville at 9:49 p.m. It was downgraded from an initial magnitude of 5.3. A magnitude 2.5 quake was also recorded in the same area at 9:59 p.m., the USGS said."
"Susanville is a tight-knit community that sits at the junction of Highways 36 and 139. It's the county seat for Lassen County. People reported feeling the quake as far south as Sacramento and as east as Carson City, Nevada, according to a USGS map. There were no immediate reports of damage."
A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck near Susanville in Lassen County at 9:49 p.m., later downgraded from an initial 5.3. A magnitude 2.5 aftershock was recorded about ten minutes later in the same area. Residents reported feeling the shaking as far south as Sacramento and as far east as Carson City, Nevada.
