Luxury Sleeper Trains Are Coming to the U.S.-With Private Chefs and 360-degree Views
"The Evelyn Henry sleeper car has five luxurious bedrooms with modern amenities, while the Warren R. Henry car features a lounge and dedicated observation space. Both rail cars are historic but have been renovated for the modern traveler. Guests can expect complete privacy, gourmet meals prepared by an onboard chef, and spectacular views, thanks to a vista dome car that offers nonstop 360-degree views."
"The first-which runs between Los Angeles and San Francisco-follows the Coast Starlight route, often called the "grand West Coast train adventure." The 12-hour journey runs along the Pacific coastline and California's wine country before ending in the Bay Area. The longer San Francisco to Denver journey is attached to Amtrak's California Zephyr, which connects San Francisco and Chicago via Salt Lake City, Denver, and Omaha."
Beginning January 2026, private rail cars will join the Coast Starlight between Los Angeles and San Francisco and the California Zephyr between San Francisco and Denver. Bookings are available through Halloway, an online marketplace dedicated to private rail car travel. Two renovated historic cars will carry guests: the Evelyn Henry sleeper with five luxurious bedrooms and modern amenities, and the Warren R. Henry lounge with a vista dome and dedicated observation space. Guests receive complete privacy, gourmet meals from an onboard chef, and nonstop panoramic views of the Pacific coast, California wine country, the Sierra Nevada, Utah's red-rock canyons, and the Rocky Mountains.
