"I didn't think we could ever live here, let alone own a home, become part of a community, and eventually serve as mayor, outgoing mayor Matthew Hudes said. What a privilege all of that is."
"With deep analysis, he navigated uncharted waters of new housing laws, wildfire initiatives to mitigate loss of life and property and a path for an inclusive community in which all residents can thrive, Councilmember Mary Bedame said of Hudes."
"With integrity, passion and acumen, focused on prudent financial management and preservation of our small town charm, his stewardship has truly been dedicated to protecting the character of our town."
Dozens of people attended the Los Gatos Town Hall swearing-in ceremony for Rob Moore as mayor while Maria Ristow was elected vice mayor by the Town Council. The town performs a mayoral reorganization each December to recognize the outgoing mayor and select new leadership from the council. Outgoing mayor Matthew Hudes reflected on the privilege of living, owning a home, joining the community, and serving as mayor. Hudes, with three years remaining on his council term, was recognized for senior care efforts, regional wildfire and emergency preparedness work, fiscal stewardship, and preserving the town’s character. Several regional officials presented commendations and town staff honored his service with a ceremonial gavel.
