"The closure will occur about 12 miles south of Carmel beginning on Sunday at 10 p.m., with Highway 1 reopening at the site Monday at 6 a.m. The overnight closure marks the start of demobilization following the completion of major concrete placement work as part of the ongoing emergency seawall repair project beneath the Rocky Creek Bridge, according to Caltrans. The repairs strengthen the seawall's ability to resist wave action and prevent future erosion, ensuring the long-term stability of this critical coastal route."
"During the closure, a crane and other heavy equipment will be staged across both lanes, and no through traffic will be allowed during work hours, says Caltrans. Travelers are advised to plan ahead and avoid the area during the closure period. Caltrans continues emergency repairs to Highway 1 near the Rocky Creek Bridge - post mile 60 - where the slip out occurred on March 20, 2024."
Caltrans will conduct a full overnight closure of Highway 1 at Rocky Creek Bridge from Sunday 10 p.m. until Monday 6 a.m. to demobilize equipment after major concrete placement for emergency seawall repairs. A crane and heavy equipment will occupy both lanes, and no through traffic will be allowed during work hours, so travelers are advised to avoid the area. Repairs follow a March 20, 2024 slip out that destroyed part of the southbound lane. Viaducts under both lanes have been completed; reconstruction of the seawall below is ongoing and additional closures may be scheduled.
