"Delta is the focus of a high wind watch issued at 10:25 a.m. on Monday by the National Weather Service. The watch is valid from Tuesday 4 p.m. until Friday Dec. 26, at 4 p.m. South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible, the NWS Sacramento CA said. Strongest wind gusts expected in the northern Sacramento Valley and adjacent foothills on Wednesday."
"The NWS employs three alert levels to convey the severity of high winds: High wind warning: Take action! Sustained, strong winds with even stronger gusts are happening. Seek shelter. If you are driving, keep both hands on the wheel and slow down. Wind advisory: Take action! Strong winds are occurring but are not so strong as to warrant a High wind warning. Objects that are outdoors should be secured and caution should be taken if driving."
A high wind watch was issued at 10:25 a.m., valid from Tuesday 4 p.m. until Friday, Dec. 26 at 4 p.m. South winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are possible, with the strongest gusts expected in the northern Sacramento Valley and adjacent foothills on Wednesday. Strong winds combined with saturated soils could down trees and power lines, causing widespread power outages. Winds may damage unsecured items, temporary structures, and holiday decorations. Travel could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Affected areas include the Carquinez Strait and Delta, Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, Northeast Foothills, and Motherlode. The NWS defines three alert levels and advises securing outdoor items, trimming branches, reinforcing gutters and shutters, and identifying interior shelter locations.
