The Fort Ord Dunes State Park will undergo a $33 million campground and beach access development project. Construction starts this summer and will last for two years. The campground will offer 43 traditional tent campsites, 45 RV campsites, and 10 walk-in or bike-in campsites along with improved coastal access. The project also includes a pavilion and visitor center. During construction, part of the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail will detour, but other trails and beach access will remain open. Funding will mainly come from Proposition 84.
