FBI raids East Oakland lot where thieves allegedly sold stolen gas for cheap
"OAKLAND - FBI agents swept through the East Bay Wednesday morning, hitting a series of locations amid reports that a group of thieves had set up a station to sell stolen gasoline at an East Oakland chop shop, authorities said. The investigation centers on a property on the 4200 block of Alameda Avenue, the same location that the California Highway Patrol raided last May while looking into a suspected large-scale cargo theft ring, according to court records."
"On Wednesday, authorities seized two trailers, a forklift, a motorcycle, and five cars all of which were suspected to be stolen, authorities said. In May, police found a dozen suspected stolen cars and trailers in the same lot, court records show. Wednesday's raid involved police in Oakland and Greenfield - a city in Monterey County - as well as the FBI, authorities said."
FBI agents and local police executed a raid in East Oakland at a property on the 4200 block of Alameda Avenue tied to reports of a chop shop selling stolen gasoline. Authorities seized two trailers, a forklift, a motorcycle, and five cars suspected to be stolen. The California Highway Patrol raided the same lot last May during a cargo-theft probe, finding a dozen suspected stolen cars and trailers. Investigators say the group stole gasoline across California and sold it at discounted prices at the Alameda Avenue site. An employee identified a 38-year-old man as the property owner and "boss." The 38-year-old has been linked to prior probes, including being considered a suspect in a 2022 killing and an arrest connected to a 2022 bathtub death later ruled a fentanyl overdose; police also discovered suspected fentanyl during that probe.
