Yolanda Ramirez, 72, was arrested Sept. 26 on suspicion of a misdemeanor for allegedly yelling outside a family member's home. She reportedly experienced a medical emergency and went unconscious while in the back of a patrol car. Her family filed a legal claim on Nov. 3 alleging she suffered a brain bleed due to abuse by Brentwood Police Officers and required emergency surgery. Ramirez remained on life support and died on Oct. 3. Family members, including son Richie Ramirez and husband Rudy Ramirez, demand transparency and accountability from the city and police department. The family disputes police claims about a citizen's arrest and fleeing and says officers forced her into the patrol car.
