A search of Vance's home uncovered more than a dozen guns; he was prohibited from owning firearms due to a 1996 conviction for arson, intimidating a witness and assault with a deadly weapon. Vance had worked part-time as a volunteer youth football referee and will begin serving his sentence immediately.
