"It has, but perhaps not the one intended. Two weeks spent in solitary confinement have given me a glimpse into how it must feel to be an animal trapped in a cage."
"...If you choose to come into our county and commit a crime, we will investigate it and arrest those involved."
"I am more determined than ever before to see a world where every animal is safe and free,"
Zoe Rosenberg, a 23-year-old animal rights activist, served 14 days after a felony conspiracy conviction tied to 2023 incursions at Petaluma Poultry. Rosenberg received a 90-day sentence but was released early under California's half-credit for good behavior and will complete the remaining 60 days under strict house arrest beginning Jan. 14. Rosenberg said solitary confinement gave her insight into how animals feel confined. The prosecutions arose from repeated demonstrations and farm breaches by Direct Action Everywhere opposing alleged inhumane conditions. Farm operators denied the claims and urged prosecution. The Sheriff's Office pledged arrests for crimes in the county. DxE said protests will continue.
