An officer fired, striking Morgan, who died at the scene despite receiving medical aid. The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office identified Morgan publicly. The Contra Costa District Attorney's Office is conducting an independent review, and the involved officer has been placed on immediate paid administrative leave.
