Dramatic video shows nearly 25 suspects ransacking San Ramon jewelry store in $1 million heist
""When they went in, they basically took over the store" said Lt. Mike Pistello of the San Ramon Police Department. "Basically taking whatever jewelry was available.""
""What ended up happening was, once the suspects went in, the door locked behind them," Pistello said."
""It shows all the suspects' vehicles, as well as all the suspects leaving and entering their cars to leave," Pistello said."
Nearly 25 people stormed Heller Jewelers at City Center Bishop Ranch in broad daylight, smashing display cases with crowbars and pickaxes and seizing roughly $1 million in merchandise. At least three guns were present; one suspect fired rounds to break a security glass door and escape after the door locked. The group arrived in six vehicles and parked in the valet area about 100 feet from the entrance. A drone funded by a 2023 organized retail theft grant recorded suspects entering vehicles, aiding investigators. Officers called off a high-speed pursuit; seven suspects were arrested using drone, surveillance, and bystander footage.
