Crenshaw claims Coliseum League title with win over King/Drew
""Honestly, I have to thank my O-line for blocking for me," Flowers said. "And then the defense, the defense was clutch. Honestly, the defense all like, mainly, carries the game. We just played all as a team.""
""Tonight is all about the players," said Whitehead, who has a serious case for City Section coach of the year, leading the Cougars to an 8-1 overall record and an Open Division berth."
Crenshaw captured the Coliseum League title with a 6-2 victory over King/Drew, its first league crown since 2023. Junior quarterback Danniel Flowers, playing after a recent left-hand break, kept a third-and-12 read option and dove for the pylon in the third quarter for the game's only touchdown. Crenshaw initially trailed 2-0 after an opening-kickoff safety on Jacori Starks' return. Interim coach Terrance Whitehead guided the Cougars to an 8-1 overall record and an Open Division berth. Crenshaw's defense delivered the decisive, clutch performance to secure the win.
