San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus faces removal proceedings and remains in her job while appealing the firing. Six character witnesses appeared during a 10-day hearing to defend her. Assistant Sheriff Sergio Enriquez described Corpus as possessing "grit" and cited that quality as his reason for joining her leadership team. Executive coach Ronald "RJ" Jennings called the removal effort a "modern-day lynching" and characterized the Cordell report as a marketing tool to oust Corpus. Retired Judge Ladoris Cordell concluded that Corpus and former chief of staff Victor Aenlle ran the office through intimidation and retaliation after supervisors commissioned HR investigations.
