Coach Matt Logan called a timeout with nine seconds left to ice Mater Dei kicker Jerry Shifman before a 46-yard attempt. Miles Schirmer broke through and blocked the field goal, sending Centennial to the Southern Section Division 1 championship against Santa Margarita. Centennial led 28-27 after Dominick Catalano's 24-yard touchdown pass to Keawe Browne with 1:35 remaining. Catalano finished with 290 passing yards and ran for two touchdowns. A group sack pushed Mater Dei from the 17 to the 29 before the kick. Centennial finished 11-1 as players and fans erupted after the final play.
