Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office establishes presence in Pittsburg
"It strengthens collaboration with our local law enforcement partners, it improves our efficiency, our casework and court operations, and it will allow us to respond to the needs of victims and families in real time right here, Becton said at the grand opening of the office on Monday. It also sends a message that East County matters, and the people who live and work here deserve accessible and responsive justice."
"Becton said her office has been working with Contra Costa County over the past two years to set up a Pittsburg location, which will have about 30 people on staff. We will have attorneys, we will have our filers, which is really important because it gives greater access to our law enforcement partners so they don't have to drive into Martinez for most things, they could come here to meet those who are going to be filing their cases, said Becton."
A fully equipped Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office opened on Railroad Avenue in Pittsburg to provide local access to prosecutors, filers, and victim advocates. The office will house about 30 staff and aims to reduce travel to Richmond and Martinez for legal support and case filing. On-site filers and attorneys improve coordination and efficiency with local law enforcement and expedite responses to victims and families. The office partners with the Family Justice Center in Antioch to assist domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and human trafficking victims. East County growth and associated public safety and housing pressures increase the need for accessible, responsive justice services.
