""She's almost 14,""
""She's been out here doing zoomies,""
""A neighbor down the street, who didn't burn, is cooking three turkeys,""
""You have permission to move in tonight,""
Nineteen people were killed and nearly 9,400 structures were destroyed in the Eaton fire in Altadena. Ted Koerner's home was destroyed, and he focused on rebuilding so his 13½-year-old golden retriever Daisy could remain comfortable in familiar surroundings. Construction progressed and a county inspector cleared the house for occupancy, allowing Koerner and Daisy to move back in and celebrate on their hilltop lawn with panoramic views. Neighbors plan a holiday homecoming meal. Koerner is believed to be the first person to move into a rebuilt house in Altadena; another accessory dwelling unit was also completed.
