"David was a beautiful person and they took him from us and they could've taken many lives that night, so our question to our lawmakers is what is it going to take for them to make changes in our law? How many more lives do we need to lose? How many more families need to be destroyed so that we can see real change?"
Prosecutors will announce charges against a 17-year-old suspected of shooting three people at Valley Fair Mall on Black Friday. The suspect is alleged to have gang ties and to have fired a semi-automatic gun inside the mall. The Santa Clara County District Attorney will decide whether to charge the teen as an adult. San Jose police state the teen was already on probation for a prior gun charge. The shooting is one of two gang-related mall incidents in San Jose this year, including the Valentine's Day stabbing death of 15-year-old David Gutierrez. The Gutierrez family is urging stronger juvenile punishments and changes to Proposition 57.
