Canyon fire: Evacuation zones, road closures

The Canyon fire has rapidly grown to 600 acres, threatening areas near Piru and Castaic. Evacuation orders have been established for the entire Lake Piru Recreation Area and several communities around Val Verde and Oak Canyon. Evacuation warnings have been issued for areas north and northwest of Lake Piru and parts of Hasley Canyon. Road closures include Piru Canyon Road and the Lake Piru Recreation Area, which is under an immediate evacuation order. Shelters have been set up to accommodate evacuees.
The fast-growing Canyon fire is threatening areas around Piru and Castaic along the Ventura-Los Angeles county line, having quickly spread to 600 acres.
Evacuation orders have been issued for all of the Lake Piru Recreation Area, extending east to the Los Angeles County line, south to Route 126, and west to Center Street.
Evacuation warnings are currently affecting areas north and northwest of Lake Piru, as well as parts near Hasley Canyon and west of Castaic.
Road closures in response to the fire include Piru Canyon Road at Main Street and the Lake Piru Recreation Area, which is under evacuation.
