The completely renovated Campbell Library's grand opening, originally scheduled for Nov. 22, is postponed until early next year due to remaining interior work and final construction tasks. An Express Library at the community center next to Orchard City Banquet Hall will operate through the end of the year. The Santa Clara County Library District will operate the site as one of eight libraries in its system and needs time to bring in books, technology, furnishings and staff. Construction took about two years with a ribbon cutting on Oct. 17. Funding included about $20.5 million from Measure O, a $4.7 million state grant, $500,000 from a Silicon Valley Clean Energy grant, and roughly $510,000 from the county library district. The city applied for grants to make the facility fully electric, which affected the timeline as the county outfits the building.
