California has launched a new initiative to boost the film industry by introducing a $750 million tax credit program, signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom. This program more than doubles the previous annual limit. The initiative is projected to create 6,500 jobs and deliver a $664 million economic impact, primarily through increased tourism. A total of 48 projects have already received approval, with a significant portion being filmed in the Los Angeles area to assist in recovery efforts from recent wildfires.
"The sun-drenched Central Valley, to, you know, that international orange of the Golden Gate Bridge, to the beautiful Hollywood sign -- people want to touch that."
"Forty-eight projects have already been approved. More than half will be shot in the Los Angeles area to support the community as it recovers from the devastating wildfires earlier this year."
