Calif. Army National Guard solider dies in crash on his way to work, reports say
"The crash happened Sunday morning on Tollhouse Road near Van Vleet in Fresno County, when Solomon's vehicle hit a tree and flipped upside down onto a dry creek bread, the Fresno Bee reported. After realizing he didn't show up for duty at the Cal Fire station nearby, Solomon's co-workers went to search for him, the outlet reported. Solomon was found dead in his vehicle when authorities arrived, the Fresno Bee reported."
"The crash is being investigated by CHP, Trujillo said, and the department is unable to provide further details. "This loss is felt deeply across the Cal Guard and CAL FIRE community. His commitment to protecting Californians and supporting his teammates reflected the best of our values. Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and the Guardsmen and CAL FIRE leadership of the Fresno-based Toll House crew he left behind," he said."
David Solomon, a member of the California Army National Guard attached to the joint task force with Cal Fire, died in a non-duty-related car crash in Fresno County. His vehicle struck a tree and flipped upside down into a dry creek bed on Tollhouse Road near Van Vleet. Co-workers initiated a search after he failed to appear for duty at a nearby Cal Fire station and found him dead in the overturned vehicle. Investigators say alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The crash was not discovered for at least an hour, video shows the vehicle at the bottom of a small hill, and CHP is investigating.
