On February 27, US Customs and Border Protection agents found an illegal immigrant concealed in a gas tank at the San Ysidro port of entry. The 20-year-old driver was subjected to a secondary inspection after a canine team detected the presence of a person inside the vehicle. The individual, a Mexican national, suffered serious burns and required hospitalization. The incident highlights the dangerous tactics used by smugglers. The driver was arrested and is awaiting charges, as illegal immigration attempts continue to rise.
