Terrence Lorran Smith is serving a 42‑years‑to‑life sentence for crimes committed between Jan. 7 and June 1, 2005, including residential burglary, assault with intent to commit a specific sex offense, forcible rape, forcible digital penetration, and forcible oral copulation. The Solano County District Attorney's office opposed his parole and a senior deputy district attorney argued adamantly against his release at the hearing. Smith broke into homes in Fairfield and sexually assaulted multiple women. One victim, Shaundra Stanio, was severely weakened by cancer and was sexually assaulted despite offering money. Stanio testified from her hospital bed and died three days later. Parole was denied.
