Bay Area man gets three years in prison after fourth DUI in a decade

"Court records show Onofre-Remigio has a history of DUI-related convictions dating back to November 2013, including a felony conviction in October 2021. According to a CHP arrest report, an officer spotted Onofre-Remigio near Petaluma just after midnight Aug. 26, driving a Chevrolet Silverado north on Highway 101. The officer stopped him at the West Sierra Avenue off-ramp near Cotati. Onofre-Remigio told the officer he was returning home from Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport and had consumed two White Claw beverages."
Rafael Onofre-Remigio, 31, was arrested Aug. 26 after a California Highway Patrol officer stopped him for driving 99 mph on Highway 101 with a blood-alcohol content of 0.14%. He was on post-release supervision and did not have a required ignition interlock device installed due to a prior DUI conviction. He pleaded no contest to a felony DUI charge on Nov. 3 and was sentenced to three years in prison by Sonoma County Judge Kenneth Gnoss. District Attorney Carla Rodriguez supported the maximum sentence, citing continued threat to the community. The defendant has DUI convictions dating back to November 2013, including a 2021 felony.
