Chris Bell, a retired Fairfield Fire Engineer, died at age 41 from job-related occupational cancer. He grew up in Vallejo and began in the youth Explorer program before joining the Fairfield Fire Department as a Reserve Firefighter in 2003. He was hired full-time in October 2007, promoted to fire engineer in April 2013, served on the Urban Search and Rescue Team, and retired on November 10 of last year. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and his parents. Flags at City of Fairfield facilities will be lowered to half-staff and department personnel will wear mourning bands. Memorial service details are pending coordination with his family.
