"Though we respect the jury's verdict, a criminal acquittal does not change what the body worn camera shows or what my client endured."

Brandon Carl Nail was found not guilty of assault under color of authority and submitting a false police report after a trial lasting more than four weeks. The jury deliberated three days before returning the verdict. If convicted on both counts, Nail faced up to six years and eight months in prison. Nail hugged his defense attorneys after the court clerk read the verdict. San Rafael city officials have tentatively agreed to pay Julio Jimenez Lopez $999,000 to settle his civil rights lawsuit. The Marin County District Attorney accepted the jury's verdict and thanked jurors.
