An injured juvenile mountain lion, likely struck by a vehicle, was found huddled in the middle of Hillcrest Parkway near Olympic Street in Castaic just before 1 a.m. The cub remained motionless for more than an hour while highway troopers secured the scene. Local broadcasters captured footage of the animal sitting in the roadway. The cub rose and walked off the roadway just after 2 a.m. Wildlife personnel searched nearby thick brush, located and captured the animal, and transported it to a local veterinarian for examination and treatment. The animal's recovery status and final outcome are pending.
