California's newest Hall of Fame class represents diverse achievements across entertainment, sports, literature, cuisine, and politics. The nine inductees include Academy Award-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis, former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Olympic champions Janet Evans and Carl Lewis, authors Riane Eisler and Terry McMillan, chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, the groundbreaking ensemble Mariachi Reyne de Los Ángeles, and former state Democratic leader John L. Burton. Governor Gavin Newsom announced the selections, describing the inductees as leaders who have reshaped culture and communities. The formal enshrinement ceremony will occur at the California Museum in Sacramento on March 19. Candidates must have lived in California for at least five years and made achievements benefiting the state, nation, and world. Since 2006, 166 Californians have been selected across 19 classes.
