"ANTIOCH - A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of felony assault after a standoff with officers Tuesday in Antioch, police said. Officers were called to a residence in the 50 block of East 6th Street around 8:15 a.m. for a report of a family disturbance, Antioch police Lt. Gary Lowther said in a news release. The victim, a 25-year-old woman, was taken to an area hospital to be treated for her injuries, which Lowther said were not life-threatening."
"The suspect, meanwhile, barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to exit. Lowther said officers learned the suspect was "possibly armed with a knife," as well as "had an extensive criminal history involving violence and evading law enforcement." SWAT and crisis negotiations teams were called to the scene, and after several hours of negotiations and de-escalation efforts, the suspect surrendered, Lowther said."
