"(Gina Ferazzi / Los Angeles Times) This week's latest round of stormy weather hit Southern California with fearsome winds that downed trees and heavy precipitation that flooded roadways and dumped even more snow in the mountains. As the storm system heads north, most of the Southland will remain cool and dry throughout Wednesday, with light to moderate winds, according to the National Weather Service. But residents should not be too fast to pack up their umbrellas - another round of rain is forecast to arrive Thursday."
"Wednesday's expected weather will give emergency services providers a chance to catch their breath and address damage from the latest overnight rain and winds. Much of the Southland was under a wind advisory into the early hours of Wednesday morning, with forecasters warning of powerful gusts of up to 60 mph. And after significant rainfall soaked the soil during Monday's storm, trees were particularly vulnerable to toppling during Tuesday night's strong winds."
Southern California experienced fearsome winds, heavy precipitation, flooded roadways and additional mountain snowfall. The storm system moved north, leaving most of the Southland cool and dry on Wednesday with light to moderate winds, while another round of rain was forecast for Thursday. Emergency services had an opportunity to address overnight damage after wind advisories warned of gusts up to 60 mph and saturated soils increased the risk of toppled trees. Evacuation warnings remained in several burn scar areas, roads were closed for debris flow cleanup, and mountain resorts reported significant snowfall amid a separate Sierra Nevada avalanche incident.
