5 women allege California city staffer used their photos to create sexually explicit AI images
"Five women are suing the city of Chula Vista and a former city employee they were acquainted with through their work with law enforcement, a man they allege manipulated photos taken from social media and elsewhere to create sexually explicit material using artificial intelligence. The suit, filed in San Diego Superior Court last week, alleges the employee generated or otherwise created highly sexualized images of the women without their knowledge."
"According to the suit and a city spokesperson, the employee was a cybersecurity and/or network specialist and was assigned to the federal San Diego Law Enforcement Coordination Center. He came into contact with the five women through their work with those teams. Attorney Morgan Stewart, who is representing the women, alleged the employee obtained photos in a few ways, including scraping the women's social media accounts."
Five women filed a lawsuit in San Diego Superior Court alleging a former Chula Vista employee created sexually explicit images using artificial intelligence without their knowledge. The women say the man manipulated photos taken from social media and other sources to generate highly sexualized images. The employee worked as a cybersecurity and/or network specialist assigned to the federal San Diego Law Enforcement Coordination Center and encountered the women through their work with those teams. Attorney Morgan Stewart said the employee obtained photos by scraping social media and that altered images were found on his electronic devices and a physical copy in his desk. The complaint accuses the city and the staffer of negligence and intentional wrongdoing, while the city says it did not assign or oversee his work and that the alleged actions did not occur on city-controlled property.
