Wedgwood will suspend production at its Staffordshire (Barlaston) factory for up to 90 days, starting at the end of the month. Seventy workers will be placed on temporary leave from 29 September as a short-term measure. Tours at the World of Wedgwood tourist destination will be suspended until January 2026. Management cites elevated inventory levels caused by lower consumer demand in some key markets as the reason for the pause. Barlaston and its community are identified as important to Fiskars Group and Wedgwood. Wedgwood was founded in 1730 and has recently faced rising costs and high energy bills.
