They're now worth nearly five times as much at $2.6 trillion, with Elon Musk alone worth $682 billion as of Thursday's close. The names at the top of the rich list haven't changed much. Bill Gates, Amancio Ortega, Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, Carlos Slim, Charles Koch, David Koch, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page, and Larry Ellison made up the top 10 going into 2016."
The richest people worldwide increased their personal fortunes dramatically since 2016. The top ten were worth about $559 billion at the end of 2015 and are now worth roughly $2.6 trillion. Elon Musk became the richest person with a net worth near $682 billion. Larry Page and Sergey Brin each exceed $250 billion, and Jeff Bezos is about $260 billion. The roster at the top has shown continuity, with many 2016 names still among the wealthiest today. Bill Gates and Warren Buffett fell to 17th and 10th, while Julia Flesher Koch and her family now hold the 22nd spot formerly held by David Koch.
