Spirit gains fresh $100 million to continue flying through bankruptcy
""In the past 60 days," the airline said Monday, "Spirit also has dramatically repositioned its fleet and improved its cost structure. The airline continues to develop its product offerings, which range from economical to premium, but in all cases are designed to offer compelling value, while never deviating from delivering a top-tier operation.""
""grateful to our lenders for continuing to support Spirit's transformation, recognizing all the significant progress our team has made in recent months.""
""flights, ticket sales and operations continue as usual.""
Spirit Airlines amended its debtor-in-possession agreement to access $100 million in cash to continue operations amid Chapter 11 reorganization. Half of the funds are available immediately while the remainder depends on progress toward a reorganization plan that could preserve independence or enable a strategic transaction with another airline. Spirit is in active negotiations on those options. Pilots and flight attendants ratified agreements with significant cost concessions. The airline repositioned its fleet, improved its cost structure, and reports that flights, ticket sales and operations continue as usual.
