Oracle cuts more jobs in California, Washington, and beyond
"Oracle on Tuesday laid off more than 100 workers in Washington State and more than 250 in California, though we're told that the database giant may be firing thousands around the world. The company has not responded to our requests to confirm the many social media reports of a broad reduction in force. The Register heard from one affected individual who estimated that Big Red has let go of at least 1,000 employees."
""FY25 was a very good year - but we believe FY26 will be even better as our revenue growth rates will be dramatically higher," said Oracle CEO Safra Catz in a statement accompanying the June financial report. The Washington State Employment Security Department's WARN database shows Oracle filed a notice on September 2 to eliminate 101 jobs in Seattle, effective November 3. This follows similar notices sent two weeks ago to advise of over 300 redundancies in California and Washington."
Oracle implemented layoffs affecting more than 100 workers in Washington State and more than 250 in California, with social reports indicating possible thousands affected globally. The company has not publicly confirmed the full scope of reductions. A source estimated at least 1,000 employees were let go and indicated another round of cuts may occur in October. Oracle reported $57.4 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025, up eight percent, and CEO Safra Catz said FY26 revenue growth rates will be dramatically higher. WARN filings show 101 Seattle positions eliminated effective November 3 and over 300 redundancies advised across California and Washington, including multiple technical and managerial roles.
