Marc-Alexis Côté has led Assassin's Creed for nearly two decades and is now leaving Ubisoft amid corporate restructuring. Ubisoft framed the departure as Côté choosing to pursue a new path outside the company. Tencent invested $1.25 billion in Ubisoft in March and co-founded Vantage Studios to run Assassin's Creed, with co-CEOs Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes. An internal Vantage memo stated Côté was offered a leadership role at Vantage but declined. Côté posted on LinkedIn that the past 24 hours were deeply emotional and indicated he had been asked to step aside rather than leaving voluntarily.
