A Citadel spokesman declined to comment. Subramanian joined in 2018 from Goldman Sachs, where he spent 13 years and rose to partner and co-CTO."
Umesh Subramanian is stepping down as Citadel's chief technology officer after more than seven years in the role. He will remain with the firm and work on important initiatives outside of technology while also pursuing personal interests beyond Citadel. Andrew Janian is returning to Citadel and will serve as interim CTO effective immediately. Janian originally joined in 2021 as head of equities engineering after a long career at Two Sigma and had left in early 2025. Subramanian joined Citadel in 2018 from Goldman Sachs, where he spent 13 years and rose to partner and co-CTO. Citadel also saw former CFO Andrew Philipp depart in late November for Schonfeld. Citadel’s Wellington fund returned 10.2% last year, below peers.
