"At BNY we continually evaluate our real estate footprint to ensure we are operating efficiently. We are intending to close our Cork office. For affected employees we have commenced a consultation process. We remain committed to serving our clients and relationships in the Irish market and internationally."
"Ireland is a key location for BNY, and our high-performing teams in Dublin will come together in one office in a prime location at the heart of the city's international financial services centre."
BNY Mellon plans to close its Cork office and has commenced a consultation process with affected employees. The firm closed its Wexford office in January, affecting about 300 workers, with some staff securing positions in an expanded Dublin headquarters opened this summer. The company would not disclose exact numbers for Cork but about 200 are thought to be employed there. The bank intends to keep a presence in Cork until 2027 and will make office space available for remaining staff. Some Cork roles will be migrated to Dublin, but not all, so redundancies are expected. The Dublin headquarters occupies multiple floors at the Shipping Office on Sir John Rogerson's Quay with capacity for up to 800 people and plans to lease an additional floor to accommodate more staff.
