Moore Catholic bounced back from a recent loss by defeating Xaverian 10-1, led by excellent performances from Gianna DiMaso, who pitched effectively and contributed offensively. The Mavericks displayed strong teamwork with key hits from Chow, Schron, Schaffer, and others. Coach Glen Payne highlighted the team's improved performance after a lackluster game against Notre Dame Academy. DiMaso's growing confidence and pitching skills shone in this game, as the Mavericks aim to build momentum heading into their next matchup against the league-leading St. Joseph by-the-Sea.
In addition to DiMaso's offensive production, Chow (2B, two RBI), Courtney Schron (HR, two RBI) and Gabriella Schaffer each knocked in runs while Alyssa Tronolone, Watson and Gianna Garofalo chipped in with a hit apiece.
We were flat during our loss (to NDA), but the girls came out and played the way we expect them to play (on Wednesday),'' said Moore head coach Glen Payne.
(DiMaso) did a really nice job. She's been working and being more aware of her mechanics each time out,'' said Payne, who praised third baseman Alyssa Watson and shortstop Leanna Chow for their defensive play.
Schron, in fact, belted her second homer in as may days and DiMaso followed with a run-scoring double to give the Mavs a 2-0 lead after 1 1/2 innings.
