"Sunday's result leaves Brooklyn leaning on scouting, development and patience as it tries to build its next playoff core. The first round of the 2026 NBA Draft will be held Tuesday, June 23, at Barclays Center."
Brooklyn won the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery outcome of the No. 6 pick after entering with the NBA’s third-worst record. The Nets had a 14% chance to land the No. 1 pick and a 52.11% chance to pick in the top four, but their most likely result was No. 6 with a 26.02% chance. The pick still offers an opportunity to add another key piece to a young roster featuring Egor Dëmin and last year’s No. 8 selection, along with other recent first-round players. The result removes Brooklyn from the most favorable portion of a draft expected to include top prospects such as AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cameron Boozer, and Caleb Wilson. Vince Carter and Joe Tsai represented the franchise during the lottery, with Bruce Reznick attending as a guest. Brooklyn will rely on scouting, development, and patience as it builds toward its next playoff core, with the first round of the draft scheduled for June 23 at Barclays Center.
