Vinyl Nights is celebrating roller disco culture with a 24K Gold Skate Contest on May 23 at Xanadu, featuring live DJ sets playing classic vinyl tracks. Skaters of all levels are invited to wear golden attire and compete for prizes, including skates and helmets. The event aims to recreate the nostalgia of 1970s-1990s NYC nightlife while providing an inclusive environment for all to enjoy dancing and skating, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and celebrated within the city's musical legacy.
"24K Gold will be a night all in gold," said event producer Rebecca Lynn, who welcomed everyone to the event, including beginners, intermediate and advanced skaters.
Attendees can expect a nostalgic journey back to the roller rinks of the city's past, with DJ sets by Misbehaviour, Operator Emz, Silent H, and Rizzsk8 who will spin disco, soul, house, boogie and old-school hip-hop all strictly on vinyl.
