Prospect Park's LeFrak Center to Reopen With Upgrades, New Operator
Briefly

Prospect Park's LeFrak Center at Lakeside is reopening with upgraded facilities and expanded programming, including Brooklyn's largest water play area. The center offers year-round activities such as roller skating, boating in warmer months, and ice sports in winter. Managed by the Prospect Park Alliance, the center replaced an outdated skating rink and parking lot to create an engaging lakeside destination. Concessions contribute financially to park maintenance, making the facility a vital community hub. The reopening event on August 2 and 3 aims to celebrate these enhancements.
We got rid of the parking lot and created a whole new center. We restored the lakeshore because the old skating rink was plopped right on top of the lake.
Any funds raised in the park through the operation of the concessions go back into the care of the park. A significant part of our budget is done through traditional philanthropy, which other parks aren't able to do.
It really is just a special place.
