"What we are doing here today is showing that community takes care of community,"
"It's about time we had a forum on families in Brooklyn. There are 600,000 children under 18 here - a very big number."
"I want people to network today and create new partnerships within Brooklyn,"
"This would encompass shopping, dining, entertainment and the like. Brooklyn is and has always been about family."
An inaugural Family Leadership Summit convened at City Point in Downtown Brooklyn on Jan. 28 to explore family life, culture and commerce. Two panel conversations addressed how Brooklyn families live, play and connect and how 2026 can shape family experiences. Panelists examined evolving family priorities and opportunities for cultural, civic, and business leaders to create meaningful offerings. Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso opened with optimistic remarks about community care and turnout. Organizers emphasized networking and forming partnerships to better serve Brooklyn families, noting the borough has 600,000 children under 18 and a need for family-focused shopping, dining and entertainment.
