Ferry service will connect St. George and Bay Ridge starting Monday, providing a direct link between Staten Island and South Brooklyn. Parts of South Brooklyn will receive upgrades that include new service running straight to Midtown Manhattan. A commuter, DB Lampman, says the changes have made her commute much easier by removing the need to drive and by shortening travel time to about ten minutes plus a brief walk. The city is designing a new ferry landing in Sunset Park to expand transit options and give Brooklyn residents additional connections.
