"The higher reimbursements are expected to generate "millions of dollars" in additional revenue every year, a Maimonides spokesperson told Brooklyn Paper last week."
Maimonides Medical Center will officially merge with NYC Health+Hospitals, with completion expected by April 2026. Court documents allege the deal is worth $15 billion. The merger requires approval by the state Attorney General. The move aims to support financially struggling Maimonides and allow the hospital to remain operational. Joining Health+Hospitals will make Maimonides eligible for higher Medicaid reimbursement rates available to public hospitals. Those higher reimbursements are expected to generate millions of dollars in additional annual revenue. Maimonides is a safety-net hospital with more than 80% of patients insured by Medicare and Medicaid and operates multiple hospitals and outpatient facilities. Reported recent financial results show steep losses and minimal revenue.
